Trackle

Keep tabs on everything! Many services like Remember The Milk (a to-do list) and AreMySitesUp (a service that tells you if your favorite sites go down and emails you when they’re back up) help you remember those two things. PriceProtectr lets you enter in a product’s address and emails you if the price is dropped. Now, with a new service called Trackle, you can keep up on that and so much more! Trackle reminds you when it’s someone’s birthday, how popular your friends are, the local weather, your daily horoscope, daily tidbits (fun factoids), your home’s value, news, websites, anyone on the web/blogs, and so much more! You can even set Trackle to alert you if there’s crime in your neighborhood. You can also track your favorite sports. Trackle can send you your alerts via email, on an inbox on the Trackle website, or by a text message.

Atmosphir

If you’ve ever wanted to create your own video games, Atmosphir may be for you. Atmosphir is a free video game designer download for PCs, Macs, or Linux. The Atmosphir website says that creating a video game of your very own is “as easy as clicking on a block…and snapping it into a grid.” You can create pathways, moving blocks, enemies, secret passageways, locked doors, treasure chests, and more. Everything is organized into categories, so you won’t have any trouble finding anything. You can put checkpoints in your levels, too, which are flags you’ll start from if you jump off a ledge or something. This program could be good if you like to be creative, or if you like to imagine amazing fantasy worlds. The world is yours to experiment with, so have fun!

Note: According to Atmosphir’s website, the program is still in beta, and the developers are still working on it. You can sign up to recieve updates until the full version is available over at the website. The site says that the program will be out in a few months, but no exact date has been set.

Ning

If you don’t want to join a big social network, why not create your own? With Ning, you can do just that: create your very own social network. You could create a network for so many things, be it a group for horror movie lovers, or a group for a local club. Set-up is very simple: Just pick a name for your social network, and pick a site address (it will be examplename.ning.com). From there, you can add text, pictures, video, anything you want! You can also add widgets from the popular widget service Widgetbox. Have fun!

Google Earth

leave a comment »

If you’ve already heard of Google Earth, then you may have also heard of some other programs like this. But I think Google Earth is a winner in that category.

With Google Earth, you can fly to anywhere in the world. From France to Japan to Russia, you name it, you can fly there. (Except places that are fictional or ones that Google Earth doesn’t recognize.) What’s also neat is that you can also view pictures from the area you’re at. Just click on one of the little camera buttons.

But you can view more than just Earth. How about soaring amongst the galaxies, or diving under the sea? You can do that, too. To view the sky, just click on the “Sky” button on the main menu bar. (It looks like a picture of Saturn.) To view the ocean, double-click on any part of the water. Have fun!

Google Earth is a download application, but it still is a very cool site.
