Microsoft SharedView

leave a comment »

In case you’re wondering how to show your computer to others, try Microsoft SharedView. It is a free application available for Windows Server 2003 Service Pack (SP) 1, Vista Home Premium, Vista Ultimate, and Windows XP Service Pack 2. The only catches are that you must have a Windows Live ID (don’t worry, it’s free) to begin sharing your screen, and the “sharees” must download the program as well.

Once you’ve signed in with your WLID, the program gives you a set of instructions to send to the people you’d like to share with. After they have installed SharedView, the number of people will show up at the top of the screen. Then click the “Share” button and select what you want them to see.

Unfortunately, there is no audio support for the program right now. That means you have to make a telephone call or use a program like Skype.

There’s an example of a real-world application of the program here.

You can download the program at: www.tinyurl.com/MShareView

Diigo

There are some websites that let you share and store “bookmarks” of favorite sites you find. Diigo does that and more. With this website, you can group your bookmarks (like some other sites), but there are other features too. For example, you can highlight any text you find on the Web. It’s kind of like digital annotating. You can also add sticky notes to web pages and share them with other users.

District 9 No-Blur/Subtitles Trailer

leave a comment »

A few days ago I showed a preview for the upcoming sci-fi thriller District 9. There is one scene in that preview where the non-human is being interrogated. Its mouth was censored out and you couldn’t understand what it was saying. Now, here is a new trailer, the exact same as before, but there’s a difference. The mouth is not blurred and there are subtitles. You can understand the non-human. Enjoy!

9

When you think “animated movie”, you probably think happy and joyful, right? Well, that’s not the case of this movie. 9 tells the story of an alien…doll…thing named “9” that has qualities of leadership that may help the other doll-things survive in a post-apocalyptic world. The movie is produced by Tim Burton. And of course, the movie comes out on 9-9-09. Enjoy the trailer!

UPDATE: Those ragdoll thingies? Their real name, according to director Shane Acker, is “stitch punks”.

As promised, here is the video showing a little song made using only system sounds on a Macintosh computer (yesterday’s post was music from a Windows machine). Be careful, the song is catchy!

This is a pretty cool video. Someone made a little song using only sounds from Windows XP/98. If anyone is wondering, the program he used (mentioned in the video) is called ModPlus Tracker . Enjoy the video!
