“Horrible Bosses”: Like “9 to 5”, Except…Nope, It’s Pretty Much Like “9 to 5”

with one comment

I’m sure everybody has a reason to hate their boss. In Horrible Bosses, however, Jason Bateman, Charlie Day and Jason Sudekis decide to take the hating a step further: to exterminating.

The movie tells the story of three friends (Bateman, Day and Sudekis) who each have a reason to despise their superior: Bateman’s is a self-centered egotist (Kevin Spacey) who’s always giving himself promotions. He’s like the playground bully from back in grade school.

Sudekis’s (Colin Farrell) is a bit of a discriminator, firing the fat and disabled. He’s like the kid who would pick on you if you were wearing funny clothing.

Day’s is a wild sexual-innuendo-filled woman (Jenifer Aniston), and let’s hope she doesn’t remind you of anyone on the playground.

Together, they each conspire to kill their awful bosses, with help from Jamie Foxx, always nice to see in a movie. At first I thought this wasn’t going to be very good (kind of like an Owen Wilson movie), but y’know what? I laughed. It’s got a pretty good cast, and the plot is pretty absurd. I laughed–and I’m not sorry.

Horrible Bosses hits theaters on July 8th.
