I like movie trailers. So sue me.

“Anonymous” Trailer Tells Us “We’ve All Been Played”. HA HA HA! PUNS!

High school English teachers of America, prepare for a surprise: Shakespeare might not have written any of his famous works! At least, that’s what the trailer for Anonymous wants you to believe. That specific rumor has been floating around for a while now, so I guess it was only a matter of time before someone made a movie out of it.

The “someone” in question is Roland Emmerich, who previously directed disaster and action films like Independence Day, 2012 and 10,000 B.C. This time around he’s going for the historical drama with Anonymous.

It actually looks like it could be a pretty good movie; the idea of Shakespeare not writing a word of Shakespeare is interesting. The introductory “We all know William Shakespeare” thing is seems a bit unnecessary considering we’re in historical times for the rest of the trailer, but it sets up the story well.

If I told you that there was a Radiohead song in this trailer (“Everything In Its Right Place”) you might think “Radiohead? Historical drama? Oookayyy,” but it actually works quite well.

Despite its bits of weirdness, this trailer has me excited for this movie. It might not be something i see in the theaters, but it’s definitely something I’ll catch on DVD.
