2 Tools for Building a Website: Weebly and SnapPages

with 3 comments

If you’ve ever wanted to make your very own website, these two tools may be just right.

  • Weebly is your basic site builder, similar to another service called Webs.com. Weebly uses the power of a drag-and-drop interface that lets you build your site. For example, if you wanted to put in a paragraph, you would drag the paragraph icon into your website and then start typing. If you’re looking for a very basic website-building tool, Weebly is for you. For those who’d like to step up from Weebly, Webs.com is a good alternative.
  • What about a bump up from Webs.com? SnapPages is it. SnapPages features a wonderfully designed interface and more tools than you can shake a stick at. “Website creation for the rest of us”, the site proclaims. SnapPages offers a whole lot of themes from which you can build your website, and from there, you can change the color of the header, move everything around, and even add cool effects. You can upload photos, put up a blog, add calendars, and more. SnapPages offers two account options. There is the Personal Account (free, and comes with 1 gigabyte of storage) and the Pro Account ($50/year after a 30-day free trial, and comes with 10 gigabytes of storage, web analytics and more).

So go out there and start building!

  1. I’m a jazz pianist who created my website with Weebly, and I’m pretty darned happy with it!I like all the features like custom HTML, ease of use for throwing videos, etc….new photo gallery is cool….still could use more theme customization though!…

  2. Tony, That’s a cool website. I just discovered Weebly this week. Trying to decide between it and Yola. Not sure which is better, but very impressed with what you have been able to do with it. Also, like your music. Keep jamming!

  3. The cool thing about weebly is that you can buy a $.99 .info domain (or a pricier .com domain, for that matter) and they’ll take care of hosting the content for you along with the design tools. Really handy for those who are just getting started.
